California Single Mother Receives Grant From Karen and Charles Phillips Charitable Organizations

California state budget cuts have resulted in mandatory and unexpected salary reductions for some state employees.  Ms. Tara Williams was impacted by these budget cuts while trying to support a daughter majoring in engineering in college.  Further complicating matters, her daughter had to give up her basketball scholarship to focus on academics which was another unexpected cost.

Through it all Ms. Williams continued to tithe to her church and volunteer as a tutor in local high schools.

Ms. Williams received a grant from Karen and Charles Phillips Charitable Organizations to help offset the unexpected salary reductions caused by state budget cuts and to help her daughter continue her studies.

Karen and Charles Phillips Charitable Organizations is a registered 501(c)3 non-profit foundation providing financial help for single parents, students interested in engineering, and wounded veterans. 100% of the foundation’s assets are disbursed directly to grantees. Our charter: urgent cases where a timely bootstrap grant can initiate meaningful change toward a planned recovery.
