East Harlem Tutorial Program Competes in Robotics Program

Karen and Charles Phillips Charitable Organizations began sponsoring the East Harlem Tutorial Program Robotics team last year.  http://www.ehtp.org/phillips-charitable-organizations-contributes-a-quarter-million-dollars-to-ehtp

This past weekend, the EHTP put in a strong showing at the Javits Center in NY by finishing in the top 20 out of nearly 70 schools.   EHTP was the first after school program to participate in this nationwide competition iin 2005 when it surprised the field and made the finals.  The robotics programs has been an effective way to introduce more children to engineering and the competition is spirited.  The engineering behind the robots is impressive since these machines have to shoot basketballs, throw frisbees and climb bars.   Congratulations to the team for a strong showing.
